Driving innovation in edtech fundraising: Qubika and Read-A-Thon’s partnership

Fundraising has always been a challenge for schools, but Read-A-Thon has dramatically simplified the process – turning reading into both a powerful fundraising tool and a community-driven initiative. Through a close partnership, Qubika has helped Read-A-Thon boost donations, streamline mobile payments, and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Fundraising for schools has long been a challenge – balancing the need for resources while making sure that the local community is engaged and motivated to help. Read-A-Thon, a Texas-based online fundraising platform, has made the process much more efficient and simpler for schools to manage – and turned reading into both a community-driven initiative and a powerful fundraising tool. Trusted by more than 5,000 schools, the platform not only raises critical funds but also aims to inspire a lifelong love of reading among students.

The Qubika team, comprised of a Fullstack Engineer, a UX/UI Designer, and a Product Manager, is responsible for updating and improving the product in an agile manner, guided by the needs and requirements of clients and various stakeholders, including operations, marketing, client success and technology, ensuring that schools get the most out of each of their events and accomplish their fundraising goals.

Our teams recently met and worked together at Read-a-Thon’s Headquarters in Mansfield, Texas, to define the vision, strategy, and product roadmap. Qubika Product Manager, Franco Iovi, worked to support key stakeholders in their vision, strategy, and roadmap from a product perspective, as well as contribute with product specific initiatives, and ensure that the roadmap is achievable and delivers the greatest possible value for both the schools and the business.

Our long-term partnership so far has led to some significant gains, including an increase in donations, the facilitation of data-driven decision making, reduced friction in the checkout process and optimized inventory management.

Read-A-Thon demonstrates the transformative power of a well-executed product strategy in creating meaningful impact for schools, students, and their communities. By streamlining operations, harnessing data-driven insights, enabling seamless mobile payments, and refining prize management, they have made it much easier for schools to start such initiatives.
